Session Recap

Upon departing the Griffin's Nest Inn, the Adventuring Company of the Amethyst Hydra headed south to Old Axe by way of Skull Crag. After a short time on the trade road they encountered yet another contingent of Dreambreath Royal agents and steel was soon drawn in retaliation. As before, the heroes laid their foes low but discovered a strange elvish script to be carved into the forearms of the agents. Flaying the skin from one of the elves, Braylon, Caraga, Esme, and Joarth returned to Skull Crag to hold audience with Senior War Wizard Silas and revisit topics of importance. By morning they had learned of the Invoker in Old Axe they sought as well as the meaning of the elvish script from the Dreambreath agents. Though they uncovered the name of Sertrous, its meaning remained a mystery.

Again travelling south, the Amethyst Hydra arrived in Old Axe just after nightfall to convene with Fulgrim Bargrim in the shadows of the cemetery. After winning his compliance, he suggested they search the ruins of Greatgaunt further south if they hoped to find any trace of the Cult of the Dragon. There were also promises of secret lore should they return with items the Invoker could put to use. Pausing for a short rest until dawn, the party continued south for another day's march and arrived at Greatgaunt at dusk.

The ruins loomed before them in still silence casting an ominous mood at sunset. A brief discussion among the group resulted in establishing a campsite outside the gates until morning as ruined cities are best explored in the daylight. Morning came and the four heroes ventured into the crumbling town only to encounter four Umbral Ogres amid the remains of the marketplace. The battle was short and the Hydra slaughtered the shadow beings in short order, but had expended the bulk of their powers in their anxiousness. Regrouping back outside at their campsite, the party prepares for another foray into the depths of shattered Greatgaunt...
