Ask any commoner in Western Cormyr about scary tales to tell around the camp fire at night and the name "Bargrim" is bound to come up. Some folks will tell you he's as real as you and I, while others will simply scoff and remind you that its just a tall tale of the region. The fact of the matter, however, is that no one can say for sure. As the story goes, the Bargrim family consisted of 4 males: the father, Bruk, and three sons, the youngest of which was Fulgrim. Long story short, Bruk was a well respected adventurer among his Dwarven Clan and his two oldest sons followed in his footsteps. As fate would have, Bruk met his end within the halls of the fabled Tomb of Horrors at the hands of the Demilich Acererak. Vowing to avenge the death of their father, Bruk's oldest and middle son made the same trek to that labyrinthine crypt only to meet their demise as well. This left the youngest dwarf of the family as the only remaining individual of the Bargrim bloodline. Rumors say that Fulgrim became tainted over the years. Since the blood of his father and brothers came to rest within the Tomb of Horrors, he was able to invoke the powers that Acererak controlled inside that ancient place, and soon after the powers of forgotten Moil and some of the secrets of the dreaded Vecna. Fulgrim chose a life of exile after these findings because while he embraced those powers to his benefit, he also knew the foulness and evil of their source. So, back to those tales around the camp fire. Some say Fulgrim still lurks around the countryside west of the Storm Horns. Some even claim that he frequents the graveyard just on the outskirts of Old Axe. Look in the right place and you may even find a desperate mage or warlock that has had dealings with him. Either way, it would be desperate soul indeed who would call upon a dwarf such as this. A desperate soul indeed...
Session this Thursday, 7:00pm. Be ready.
