Having gathered what information they could about the condemned building in Old Axe, Braylon, Esme, Caraga, and Joarth set off towards Meloren's Rest. A full day's worth of travel found them in the company of a small wagon and its owners just outside the outpost at sunset. It wasn't long before weapons were drawn and battle commenced as the Tiefling Overseer had plans the adventurers disagreed with. One White Dragon Wyrmling, a Darkpact Warlock, and a few minutes later and the party was sinking the House Saudaire corpse to the bottom of a pond in hopes of discarding any further evidence of foul play.
Once at Meloren's Rest, the party found Mr. Wallace Tate who previously owned the condemned building in Old Axe. He explained the situation as he remembered it and even offered his assistance in the form of a servant's entrance key. Following that stepping stone to their investigation, Caraga purchased a bit of poison from a Dragonborn Rogue, only to have Braylon and Esme use it in the assassination of a Swampmarshall shortly thereafter. Making a hasty retreat from their misdeeds, the group met up with Blacktongue and were rewarded in the form of a magic rapier.
Being that the murder of the Meloren's Rest Guard and their rendezvous with the Rogue lasted into the late morning, the party was considerably behind on travel time. Shortly after sunset in the waining light of day, the party was confronted a few miles outside of Old Axe by a similar group of Sembian Elves as those they had fought previously in the foothills. Calling themselves the "Dreambreath Royal", they insisted upon the group's surrender of their current activities and responded with force as they were disobeyed. The combat was fierce and the Elves held the tactical advantage which cost Braylon and Caraga their lives, but Esme stepped up past a wounded and retreating Joarth to save the day as the sunset beyond the horizon.
Wounded, tired, and with two comrades in tow, Esme and Joarth made their way into the Temple of Gond and pleaded for help and healing. By morning, the clerics of the temple had restored Braylon and Caraga back to existence, though the memory of death's icy grip rested fresh upon their minds. As the sun rose to signal a new day, everyone was ready to take their leave back to the watchtower, especially since tonight required more of the same "investigation efforts"...
