Westmeath: A Memory

"I remember it well, tucked away in the most obscure venue beautiful Cormyr had to offer. It was fitting that I resided there as well, if only briefly, among the flooded tombs and graves and in the rotting stonework of those ruins. You see, for all the good I believed I was accomplishing, I still hated myself for the things I had done and was yet to do. Perhaps Westmeath was the personification of that hate. A place where I could entomb my hopes and dreams, maybe even lock away my conscience along with that horrid device. I wish I could blame the impetuousness of youth or the intoxicating delusions of grandeur, but when space and time are the two things you can see most clearly, there is no excuse aside from the consequences of a single man's own free will. Looking back, I could never truly describe what is locked away there, but I can say with all honesty that I regret creating it."
